Ronald McDonald House
Purpose Leaders: Amy Coleman (D1 Staff) Natalie Keeney & Ray Keeney (D1 Athletes)
When: Saturday, August 28
Location: Ronald McDonald House of Knoxville

Charity Background: The Ronald McDonald House is a home that is open to any family with a child who is receiving medical treatment at an area hospital. More than 41,000 families have utilized its services. The Ronald McDonald House offers day-use or multi-day use programs where families with children at Children's Hospital or other area hospitals can use the house's laundry, cooking and other facilities during the day or for the remainder of the child’s stay. This provides a way for families to complete daily tasks while away from home but still remain close to their sick child. The Ronald McDonald House is almost ENTIRELY supported by the community.

Training for a Purpose Objective: We need to come together and be selfless and have fun with this event. After speaking with the house manager about the typical families that occupy the house, we have realized that they are just like us only going through a hard time. We need to come together and make them feel at home and comfortable. The manager said they are typical families. They love to nibble and joke. They like to watch movies and enjoy the gardens and playground outside of the house. They love a festive touch to the house and surprise gifts, even if those gifts are necessities.
